Getting Started

You will need to provide important information and documents or summary information to your financial advisor as part of the financial planning process. The documents you may wish to bring to the initial meeting with your financial advisor include some or all of the following:

  • Names, phone numbers, and addresses of professional advisors (accountant, attorney, etc.)
  • Statements for money market account(s), savings account(s), brokerage(s), CD(s), IRA(s) and other assets and accounts
  • Debt and liability information such as loan balances, interest rates, monthly payment amounts, etc.
  • Retirement plan statements from current and past employers
  • Insurance information, especially life and annuity policies
  • Employee benefit statements
  • Most recent tax returns
  • Social Security statement (if available)
  • Wills, trusts or other legal documents
